The story is constantly cut down to the bare essentials, forcing the story to convey itself through montage (you know, like a movie!) and other editing tricks.

This one looks admittedly the most 2000s/2010s ugly digital, but itвЂ™s saved by the snappy editing. There are probably different cinematographers for each of his films because none of them are quite the same.

I actually donвЂ™t mind his contributions to the series (except for the Beasts movies, of course) even though he takes up half of them all by himselfвЂ“smartly I suppose he utilizes different moods and energies depending on the movie. ThatвЂ™s something I would put on the director, David Yates. Other older actors come away mostly unscathedвЂ“and at some point it becomes the Imelda Staunton show, whoвЂ™s as iconic as Umbridge as Alan Rickman is with SnapeвЂ“but a lot of earlier beats come off as pretty awkward even with their talents. He actually does things here of his own accord! Like a character! Watson and Grint are barely in this oneвЂ“itвЂ™s all Radcliffe, which is a smart move for your protagonist who can start to feel like a passive audience surrogate at times with how the world and story is set up, having everyone explain everything to him. But I guess heвЂ™s right that Gary Oldman makes him better, since whenever Sirius shows up Radcliffe gets better at listening and reacting and giving a generally fuller performance.

I suppose thatвЂ™s why his dead body performance in Swiss Army Man is so good since it doesnвЂ™t require him to emote with his face. The performances, specifically RadcliffeвЂ™s, are pretty rough for the first half.
